Blog Post # 10

If I decided to become a teacher, I always wanted to be a high school math teacher. Math was always my favorite subject and high school students I've always felt like they needed teachers that would be more than just educators because they were about to transition to an entirely different chapter in their lives. I have always felt like I had a connection to high school students even when I would tutor my peers while still being in high school and providing advice to my classmates. I would use data collection surveys as a teaching method and also as ice breakers to collectively get a better understanding of my students. Since I would be a math teacher data collection surveys is a sure topic that I would have to go over and teach to my students. The topics I have found most interesting in reading my peers' blogs were anything that had to do with them becoming teachers in the future. It was very profound to me some of the ideas and knowledge some of my classmates had when it came

This semester's distance learning experience was by far the worse one I have experienced in my entire college experience. Most of it was due to personal reasons and then other things was that I had one professor that was not as understanding as my other professors so, it made it kind of difficult. I disliked that most of my professors were not as available to me as I felt they should have been. I liked that I had a really amazing professor (who is the professor of this class) be very patient and understanding. She also di check ins which I really loved. Weekly or monthly check ins is something I would definitely do for the improvement of my distance learners' experiences.  OER are open educational resources that are easily accessible and available for everyone to use, view, and reuse. With open educational resources, teachers, students, and parents are able to do the 5 OER's R's, retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute. UNESCO posted an article about OER in whic

Prior to this assignment, I did not even know how to make a website. This assignment taught how to make one and provided me with the aspects to include in a website. I liked that this assignment allowed me to get creative and actually imagine what aspects I'd like included in my classroom. I dislike how tedious the assignment was and how long it took me to complete. What I learned can help me with my future career because now I am able to create my own website without having to find someone else to do it. Please visit my website at  https://mskay5.weebly.com/ Honestly, I did not learn any new skills from Diigo. I do not like the layout of the software and I also do not care to use it in the future. I do not think it will be useful in my future endeavors as teacher. I would not recommend or use Diigo with my students, team members, or for my own professional efforts. Technology is evolving everyday; there are updates made and new technological advances introduced. As teachers, keep

Teacher pages on school websites often include what the students need, the dress code, their schedule, interactive activities, et cetera. At Ponce De Leon Middle School, their teacher pages separate in two; one for students and one for parents. Their page that is accessible to everyone simply serves as remainders for things going on at the school along with what is required of the students and what knowledge they need to know for the school's day-to-day schedule. They also provide quick links with resources for students and parents to use as well as access to their own portal.  https://poncedeleonmiddle.net/students-ponce/     I envision using technology only for means of presenting topics and studying. I think this generation spends way too much of their time in front of a screen. Whether it is the television, a phone, or their laptops/computers, students are connected to technology on a day-to-day basis. I envision finding creative methods to utilize in my classroom. Techno

My initial experience utilizing Diigo was not a great one. I just did not like how it was set up and how bland the entire site was. I did like the easiness of utilizing the site. It was not hard to learn how to use the site and posting is fairly easy. Diigo should add some more colors and features so, utilizing the website can be more appeasing.     I have never blogged before this class and I can honestly say I enjoy it. My initial reaction was very questioning and I did not want to do it because I was so used to just doing discussion posts but, I fell in love with it. I like the fact that you can organize your blog however, you would like to and you can change it up on different posts. I do not like that the site is kind of difficult to figure out how to do all the edits but, besides that I love it.     An interesting Web 2.0 that I might use when teaching is YouTube. I love YouTube because it has all different types of videos and teaching methods that students can utilize to

The ELA standard I chose is for fifth grade classes in which states "i nclude multimedia components (e.g., graphics, sound) and visual displays in presentations when appropriate to enhance the development of main ideas or themes." This standard implements the need to emphasize the main ideas and themes in presentations by utilizing special effects such as music, animations, et cetera in order to help develop these important pieces of information for the students. I think this would be easy for me to implement since I am already using graphics and sounds in my presentations now. This standard was taught to me as early as middle school for PowerPoint presentations and there are now more creative and easier ways to implement this standard so, I will be able to utilize this standard with my current skill set.     The resource that I found in the CPALMS' toolkit was the video game store. It was located under grade level 5 and in the math subject area. This resource utili
